Our mission

We believe the Ian Knot is one of those small inventions that can make everyday life a little better for millions — perhaps billions — of people.

Our mission is to help more people learn it, especially children.

Ian Fieggen and the Ian Knot

Ian Fieggen invented the Ian Knot in 1982 and has spent decades documenting shoelace knots and lacing methods through Ian’s Shoelace Site.

Why Naoki Knot exists

After using the Ian Knot every day for many years, Naoki became convinced that it deserved much wider recognition.

That led to two projects:

The Ian Knot Song — to make the technique easier for children to learn.

Naoki’s Ian Knot Plus — a secure variation that grows naturally out of the Ian Knot motion.
